Business
“You cannot learn anything while you are performing competence.”
My first business failed in fourteen months and I was certain everyone was watching. Nobody was watching. That was the first lesson. The second took longer: the business did not fail because the idea was bad, it failed because I would not say the words "I do not know" in front of people I wanted to impress. I have started two companies since. In both of them, the first thing I said to the first person I hired was that I would not always know, and that saying so out loud was part of the job.
